There were peers and there were callgirls. Two West Indie petty crooks. A Secretary Of State For War. A Russian Naval Attaché. A slum landlord. A mysterious Miss X. Douglas Fairbanks. Two-way mirrors. Among scandals of the 1960s, the Profumo Affair was grand opera.

Starring as leads in this "glittering society of peers, diplomats and ministers" meets "lurid subculture of showgirls, hoodlums and racketeers" extravaganza were successful osteopath to the rich Dr Stephen Ward, London showgirls Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-Davies and, of course, the then Conservative Secretary Of State For War John Profumo.

Central to several hit songs and movies, the Profumo affair (which by today's standards wouldn't have made quite that big or extended a splash) escalated into a media circus, rocking British politics to its core.

I just love the imagery this entire fiasco conjures up in my mind's eye - the pert and perky (all puns intended) beautiful and vivacious Keeler and Rice-Davies heating up the (supposedly) staid sensibilities of London city of the time.

And although nothing has been proved, Rice-Davies is best known for coming up with the quip, ""Well, he would, wouldn't he?". This has become SO popular a phrase in Britain, more commonly known as "Well he would say that, wouldn't he?"

A work-in-progress still, but I've finally completed the main pendant frame.

It's in 14K Solid White Gold with 14K Yellow Gold Filled. That HUGE Blue Sapphire Focal (137 Carats) is set with a Pink Sapphire in 18K Solid Yellow Gold. The Green Tourmaline Slice is Gem Grade. There are 2 Black Diamonds hanging on the sides.

When I'm done, there'll be TONS of Diamonds, TONS of chains.

This will be a layered necklace, convertible from choker to approximately 18" drop, from opera length to layered (naturally).

A queen of the Brittonic Iceni tribe of what is now known as East Anglia in England, Boudicca led an uprising of the tribes against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire.

In delicate disarray are The Lady Of Shalott earrings. A poetic composition implicitly inspired (and in equal parts) by Tennyson's ballad as well as John William Waterhouse's poignant Pre-Raphaelite painting.

Tenderly embracing the spirit of naïveté are picture perfect cascades of Blues, Ceruleans and Teals with dainty placements of Black.

From romantic swirls of Ear Posts tumble Neon Apatite, Kyanite, petite Afghanistan Lapis Lazulli and Silver Pearls. Within the voluptuous curtains of Chains, you'll also find Black Spinel ... but not your ordinary run-of-the-mill Black Spinel ... no indeed. THE WONDER OF WATERHOUSE

The Lady of Shalott is an 1888 oil-on-canvas painting by the English Pre-Raphaelite painter John William Waterhouse. The work is a representation of a scene from Lord Alfred Tennyson's 1832 poem of the same name, in which the poet describes the plight of a young woman (loosely based on Elaine of Astolat, who yearned with an unrequited love for the knight Sir Lancelot) isolated under an undisclosed curse in a tower near King Arthur's Camelot.

According to legend, the Lady of Shalott was forbidden to look directly at reality or the outside world; instead she was doomed to view the world through a mirror, and weave what she saw into tapestry. Her despair was heightened when she saw loving couples entwined in the far distance, and she spent her days and nights aching for a return to normality. One day the Lady saw Sir Lancelot passing on his way in the reflection of the mirror, and dared to look out at Camelot, bringing about a curse. The lady escaped by boat during an autumn storm, inscribing 'The Lady of Shalott' on the prow. As she sailed towards Camelot and certain death, she sang a lament. Her frozen body was found shortly afterwards by the knights and ladies of Camelot, one of whom is Lancelot, who prayed to God to have mercy on her soul. The tapestry she wove during her imprisonment was found draped over the side of the boat.

Inspired by a Jimmy Davis book (penned under the pseudonym Owen Hall), Florodora was one of the first successful Broadway musicals of the 20th Century. Set on a sunny, tropical island in the Philippines, Florodora is, in essence, a love story chronicling the romance and eventual happy ending between Dolores and Frank.

The show opened in London on 11 November 1899 at the Lyric Theatre, where it ran for a record 455 performances. Its original cast included the legendary Evie Greene who played the central character of Dolores. A good part of the success of the musical was attributed to its lovely sextet of chorines, called "the English Girls" in the score, but soon popularly dubbed the Florodora girls.

These six roles were filled by identically sized women, all standing 5ft 4" and 130lbs, and were the object of popular adoration: young male admirers persuaded many to leave the show to marry them, and more than 70 women played these roles in the first run of the play in New York. The six women who were the original sextet members in New York were Marie Wilson, Agnes Wayburn, Marjorie Relyea, Vaughn Texsmith, Daisy Green and Margaret Walker. How cute!!

Did you know that in the story, Florodora is actually a popular fragrance manufactured from the essence of the Florodora bloom? And so I thought since it's Spring et all, it seemed an opportune moment to create an ode to the season of flora, fauna and fun.

Glorious, absolutely M.A.J.E.S.T.I.C. chandelier earrings have been fashioned in fern-like tendrils over budding florets of Rondelles in Orange Sapphires, Brazilian Blue Apatites and Prehnites.

Petal-esque Keishi Pearls in Shimmery Silver adorn both the left and the right as cascades of brilliant, petite Green Tourmaline as well as Blue Apatite Briolettes embellish the lower hems, like ruffled skirts of foliage. Vesuvianite and Mystic Citrine Briolettes beautifully accent the sides.

Dainty sprinklings of wee Silver Pearls crown our, well, crowning glory. And these are, you ask? Superb, fantabulous Faceted Lemon Topaz Focals graced with Rainforest Green Topaz set in Genuine 14K Solid Yellow Gold Bezels. Magnifique!

Florodora here is the second and the very last I've created in this specific colour scheme. The first edition adorns the lobes of Rock's most controversial stylemeister herself, Courtney Love - will this adorn yours?

Florodora drapes an exotic 3.5" drop from 24K Gold Vermeil Ear Posts featuring buttery smooth Fresh Water Pearls in a swanky shade of Platinum. At her most curvaceous, she extends approximately 1.5" in width. All wires and chains used are 14K Gold Filled.

THACKERAY'S GREEN EYED BECKY Earrings by ECLETTICA

Here we have an intelligent young woman with a gift for satire. A petite sandy haired girl with bright green eyes and a great deal of wit. Fluent in both French and English, Becky has a beautiful singing voice, plays the piano and shows great talent as an actress. She's also completely amoral and without conscience, seemingly without the ability to get attached to other people, and lies easily and intelligently to get her way.

A rather unlikely muse but still awfully inspiring in her unique way, Ms Becky Sharp was the creative catalyst behind these earrings.

Can something be lithe and luscious all at the one same time? But of course, as clearly evidenced by the pictures before you now.

A divine duo of RARE GROSSULAR GARNET Briolettes (measuring 30mm, with a total count of 38 Carats) cascades daintily amidst delicate showers of VERY RARE AAA GEM GRADE YELLOW HELIODOR Briolettes. These are, in turn, flanked by Green Onyx and White Keishi Pearls which cup GENUINE SILVERY WHITE DIAMOND DRUZY Beads. Precious Vesuvianites dot their centres.

LIFE IN RENAISSANCE A LA LUCREZIA Earrings by ECLETTICA

Daughter of Pope Alexander VI, Lucrezia Borgia (or Duchess Ferrara) grew up as part of a family which came to epitomise the ruthless Machiavellian politics and sexual corruption alleged to be characteristic of the Renaissance Papacy.

Educated according to the usual curriculum of Renaissance ladies of rank, Lucrezia was taught languages, music, embroidery, painting and the such. Indeed, she was famed for her beauty and charm, but the corrupt court of Rome in which she was raised proved non conducive to a good moral education. Truth be told, Lucrezia herself was cast as a femme fatale, a role she has been portrayed as, in numerous artworks, novels and films.

Was she a "monster of cruelty and deceit"? Or a pawn of her power-hungry father and brother? Was she a poisoner or simply the victim of some very bad press? And, regardless of whether one views her as eccentric or dangerous, Lucrezia is a true original.

My earrings were designed as a visual tribute to her passionate personality.

One of the earliest femme fatales to have ever been recorded, Lucrezia Borgia was the daughter of Rodrigo Borgia, the powerful Renaissance Valencian who later became Pope Alexander VI. Her family later came to epitomise the ruthless Machiavellian politics and sexual corruption alleged to be characteristic of the Renaissance Papacy. Lucrezia herself was cast as a femme fatale, a role she has been portrayed as, in numerous artworks, novels and films.

In fact, it is even rumoured that Lucrezia was in possession of a hollow ring she used frequently to poison drinks. I wouldn't want to get on her bad side.

My necklace is a study in femme fatale disarray with lavish accents of theatrical pageantry thrown in for good measure. Rather like my muse.

LA REINE MARGOT Necklace by ECLETTICA

Born Marguerite de Valois at the royal Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye but nicknamed Margot by her brothers, La Reine Margot was the daughter of Henry II and Catherine de' Medici. She went on to become Queen of France and of Navarre during the late 16th Century.

Although not much is known of Margot, history has established her as a mentor of the arts and benefactress of the poor. She was also the mastermind behind the coup d'état at Agen - an act for which she was eventually imprisoned by her brother Henry III in the castle of Usson, for 18 long years.

My mind conjures up images of a strong-willed, beautiful and intelligent woman who was determined to have it her way. And I've attempted to actualise her colourful personality with this eponymous neck adornment. The richness of red and the boldness of black come together most magnificently here.

We have (all GEM QUALITY) Red Topaz + Black Tourmaline + Rhodolite Garnet + Black Spinel + Corundum Quartz starring against an utterly opulent backdrop of Yellow Gold.

Her non conformist attitude is evidently portrayed in the asymmetrical placements of coiled swirls as it is in the creating of quirkie curlies (in lieu of headpins).

Based on Tchaikovsky's fairytale ballet composed in 1891, I personally remember this more for the Barbie version of The Nutcracker. I know, Tchaikovsky would be turning in his grave to hear me say that. I'm personally cringing as I type this!!

As I was saying, my earrings veer more towards Barbie In The Nutcracker which was released in 2001. Barbie, naturally, ends up as being the Sugar Plum Princess but I simply adore Tim Curry as the Mouse King!!! That voice, so distinguishable!!!

I did, however, remember to pay homage to Tchaikovsky and ensured that his original 2-act 3-scene was appropriately reflected in the progressional, tiered finish of these earrings.

Derived from the Latin word *convenire*, a Coven or La Convenire is a coming together of 13 to worship or to celebrate. Why 13, you ask? Probably in deference to the theories of prominent Egyptologist Margaret Murray, 13 was perceived as an optimal number for such a gathering.

I instantly visualised high priestesses and Macbeth's sisters and other such fey beings; cavorting and casting spells and performing magical rituals, all within a fantasy realm like no other.

Fascinating. Absolutely fascinating. Little wonder I simply *had* to create my personal interpretation of La Convenire, yes?

My gathering of 13 magickal elements begins with the (1st) Chalice-shaped pendant tumbling from a (2nd) Bali Silver Bead that looks like an amazing cross between the Star of David and the Eye of Horus. Amidst the organic (and seemingly) random placements of coiled vines around the Chalice, drape the following (3rd to 10th, from left to right) magnificent Premium Gems:-

A Reliquary (also referred to as a shrine or by the French term Chasse) is a container for relics.

The earliest Reliquaries were essentially boxes, either simply box-shaped or based on an architectural design (e.g. taking the form of a model of a church); these were known as shrines or chasses. Relics of the True Cross became very popular from the 9th Century onwards and were housed in magnificent gold and silver cross-shaped reliquaries, decorated with enamels and precious stones. From about the end of the 10th century, Reliquaries in the shape of the relics they housed also became popular.

THE HANGING GARDENS OF BABYLON by ECLETTICA

Accounts indicate that The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was built by King Nebuchadnezzar, who ruled the city for 43 years starting in 605BC (during the height of the city's power and influence), and he constructed an astonishing array of temples, streets, palaces and walls.

It was said that the gardens were built to cheer up Nebuchadnezzar's homesick wife, Amyitis, daughter of the King of the Medes. She'd married Nebuchadnezzar to create an alliance between the nations. The land she came from, though, was green, rugged and mountainous, and she found the flat, sun-baked terrain of Mesopotamia depressing. The king decided to recreate her homeland by building an artificial mountain with rooftop gardens.

The Hanging Gardens probably did not really "hang" in the sense of being suspended from cables or ropes. The name comes from an inexact translation of the Greek word kremastos or the Latin word pensilis, which mean not just "hanging", but "overhanging" as in the case of a terrace or balcony.

Whatever the definition and specifics, we can only wonder if Queen Amyitis was happy with her fantastic present, or if she continued to pine for the green mountains of her homeland. I was SO intrigued, I had to make this.

The corset fell from fashion in the 1920s in Europe and America, replaced by girdles and elastic brassieres, but survived as an article of costume. Since the late 1980s, the corset has experienced periodic revivals, which have usually originated in haute couture, and occasionally trickled through to mainstream fashion. These revivals focus on the corset as an item of outerwear rather than underwear, as seen in the films Moulin Rouge; Van Helsing; Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (yes, this is where Keira Knightley's character, Elizabeth Swann, almost suffocates from wearing a tight corset); and Underworld. Incidentally, what's with Kate Beckinsale and corsets, I wonder??

Did you know that in the 1830s, the corset was thought of as a medical necessity? It was believed that women, being the weaker sex, were physically and mentally more fragile, and needed assistance from some form of stay to hold them up. Even girls as young as three or four, and probably directed by the best motives, were laced up into bodices.

LE COQUETTE by ECLETTICA

First published in 1797, The Coquette is an epistolary novel penned by Hannah Webster Foster. One of the bestselling titles of the 18th Century, this is a fictionalised account of the story of Elizabeth Whitman, the daughter of a clergyman who died after giving birth to a stillborn, illegitimate child at a roadside tavern.

Writers and preachers of the day blamed her demise on the fact that she read romance novels, which gave her improper ideas and turned her into a coquette (what the ???). Foster responded with The Coquette, which provided a more sympathetic portrayal of Whitman and described the difficulties faced by middle class women. You go, Hannah!

What I like MOST about The Coquette is its intelligent portrayal of the contrast between individualism vs social conformity and passion vs reason.

Thus Le Coquette was born.

Debunking convention, Le Coquette isn't quite a cuff neither is it a bracelet per se. A wonderful 3D middle has been poetically woven with lashings after lashings of 14K Gold Filled Wire, systemically dotted with exquisite African Tanzanite as well as Colombian Emerald Rondelles. That circular focal in the centre features yet more Colombian Emeralds, sprinklings of Tanzanite yet again, a petite circumference of Orangey Yellow Sapphires and, quite unexpectedly, a single Polished Brazilian Amethyst Round.

Performing balancing acts around the corners are passionate bouquets of AMAZING RARE GREEN RUBIES. Yes, I'm talking about those large and in-charge babies in rich Emerald City Green. WHO DOESN'T LOVE SALOME?

An icon of dangerous female seductiveness, Salome is emblematic of the femme fatale, a fashionable trope of Fin de Siecle decadence. More than merely the dancing girl who extorts a cry of lust from an old man by the lascivious contortions of her body; who breaks the will, and masters the mind of a King by the spectacle of her quivering bosoms, heaving belly and tossing thighs; Salome has risen (if we can quite put it so eloquently) above all these to be revered as the symbolic incarnation of world old Vice.

COURTESAN by ECLETTICA

A courtesan in mid-16th Century usage referred to a mistress or trained artisan of dance and singing, especially one associated with wealthy, powerful, or upper-class men who provided luxuries and status in exchange for companionship. In Renaissance Europe, courtesans played an important role in upper-class society, sometimes taking the place of wives at social functions. As it was customary during this time for royal couples to lead separate lives - commonly marrying simply to preserve bloodlines and to secure political alliances - men would often seek gratification and companionship from a courtesan.

Essentially, there were two types of courtesans. In one category was a type of courtesan known (in Italy) as the Cortigiana Onesta who was cast as an intellectual. In the other was the Cortigiana di Lume, a lower class of courtesan. Although the latter was still considered better than an average working-girl, the former was the sort most often romanticised and treated more-or-less equal to women of royalty. It is with this type of courtesan that the art of "courtisanerie" is best associated.

This oh-so-fabulous Courtesan bracelet is thus inspired by and dedicated to all the well educated, worldly, beautiful Cortigiane Oneste who have graced our halls of history. Some (in)famous Courtesans include Madame de Pompadour; Anne Boleyn; Eva Perón; Madame du Barry; and Fiammetta Bianchini.

Luscious beyond belief, Courtesan is a wanton explosion of colours, cuts and textures proffered by the usage of only the finest gems. Magnificently holding court in the centre is a glorious Mystic Hessonite Garnet Nugget, all a-shimmer. Flirtatiously flanking her are curvaceous clusters of Rare Bi-Colour Tomato Hessonite Chalcedony Briolettes, Polished Pyrope Red Garnet Briolettes, Olivine Button Pearls and petite Peach Seed Pearls. Wee Andalusite Heart Briolettes are coyly peeking out here and there, as Polished Pink Tourmaline Briolettes cavort alongside Pink Sapphire Briolettes. Peer closer to catch glances of captivating Rondelles of Red Spinel and Mystic Imperial Topaz Quartz.

Providing that all important connecting link to 18K Gold Filled Bubble Chains are IMMACULATE Coin Pearls set with sultry POPPY TOPAZ in 14K Solid Yellow Gold Bezels. Absolutely fabulous. But wait. We're not done yet. This Courtesan aims to charm her new owner even further.

Dangling provocatively from the end is a divine, 3-Dimensional wire-wrapped circlet. The first (and bottom) layer features intricate hand-crochet weaving with a simple quartet of Mystic Imperial Topaz Rondelles in the middle. The Ballets Russes (French for The Russian Ballets), an itinerant ballet company which performed under the directorship of Sergei Diaghilev, became extremely famous in Europe in the early part of the 20th century. An offshoot from the Russian Mir iskusstva (World of Art) movement, the Ballets Russes had more influence on ballet and ballet music than any other ballet company of their time.

A little on the World of Art Movement - led by Alexander Benois, Mir iskusstva had mainly occupied itself with painting exhibitions and the publication of a culture magazine. Subsequently, Benois and his circle conceived the idea of bringing Russian nationalist opera to Paris in 1907, i.e., the Ballets Russes, wherein it was an instant success.

I know I've posted images on my signature Butterfly pieces before but I thought I'd do it again now but as a progressive report of sorts :)

I started with creating these Branch Earrings back in 2007.

Then moved on to a somewhat more curvaceous form.

And here are a few of my more recent incarnations.

You know, I can't believe it's taken me two years to realise just how incredibly flattering and versatile the shapes of these earrings are. They can elongate a fuller jawline even as they add the necessary curves to a sleeker face shape.

So, as the post title implies, I'm branching out, mama!! You'll be seeing a whole lot more of these shapes from hereon ... call 'em Butterfly, call 'em Branch, just call 'em wonderful to wear.

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), one of history's most famous and mysterious composers died at the age of 57 with one great secret. Upon his death, a love letter was found among his possessions. It was written to an unknown woman whom Beethoven simply called his, "Immortal Beloved".

The world may never put a face with this mysterious woman or know the circumstances of their affair (although the most likely candidate, based on what is known about people's movements and the contents of the letters, is Antonie Brentano, a married woman with whom he had begun a friendship in 1810).

And his letters are all that is left of a love as intensely passionate as the music for which Beethoven is famed. Compositions such as the Moonlight Sonata as well as Beethoven's many symphonies express eloquently the tragedy of a relationship never publicly realised.

The letter reads thus ...

"My angel, my all, my very self -- only a few words today and at that with your pencil -- not till tomorrow will my lodgings be definitely determined upon -- what a useless waste of time. Why this deep sorrow where necessity speaks -- can our love endure except through sacrifices -- except through not demanding everything -- can you change it that you are not wholly mine, I not wholly thine?

Oh, God! look out into the beauties of nature and comfort yourself with that which must be -- love demands everything and that very justly -- that it is with me so far as you are concerned, and you with me. If we were wholly united you would feel the pain of it as little as I!

My soul is greatly intrigued by this poignant, intimate look into the very depths of such a unique individual. So much so that Musings Of A Maestro was born.

I know, many of you are suffering from Gaga fatigue, but not me! Not even the massive number of Lady Gaga costumes sure to take over the nation on Saturday night can quench my insatiable thirst for her special brand of quirky cool. Her SNL performance a few weeks ago was awesome and so too, I expect, this new video set to hit our screens soon.

It starts out with a stint of interpretive modern dance a la Gaga, set to piano music, before moving on to what appears to be outer space in vivid film noir mode - but of course. It *is* GagaLand.

The styling is sparkly, girly frou frou and somewhat athletic in a Marvel Heroine kind of way, and yes, all at the one same time. And that technicolour make-up is pretty spiffy weird and I truly mean that in the best possible way.

I love you, Lady Gaga!

OLYMPIAS, THE SORCERESS by ECLETTICA

Olympias was a Greek princess of Epirus, daughter of king Neoptolemus I of Epirus, the fourth wife of the king of Macedonia, Philip II, and mother of Alexander the Great. She was a devout member of the orgiastic snake-worshiping cult of Dionysus, and may have slept with snakes.

Oooh.
Scandalous.

She was also, as history recounts, a tall, statuesque, vivacious beauty who would fly into rages of jealousy without the slightest provocation. Indeed, it was reported that with Philip's volatility and Olympias' jealous nature, theirs was a truly stormy union.

What an epic tale.
Already inspired, I then stumbled across one of the most visually stunning interpretations of Olympias ever, within the portfolio of Alexia Sinclair, a wonderfully talented Australian-based photographer and digital artist. Please see the last image to understand my awe.

In 18th Century France, the great philosopher and libertine Denis Diderot toils on his Encyclopaedia in a country house belonging to Baron Holbach. Diderot’s radical ideas have made him the enemy of the establishment – particularly the Church – who will stop at nothing to destroy the man and his lifelong work to enlighten mankind. Whilst struggling for a definition of the word “morality”, the philosopher allows an attractive woman artist, Madame Therbouche, to paint his portrait – in the nude - thus giving birth to the term La Libertine, or as the Queen would say, The Libertine.

Definition of libertine:-

1. a person morally or sexually unrestrained.
2. a freethinker in religious matters.
3. a person freed from slavery in ancient Rome.
4. a rake.
5. unrestrained by convention.

Meaning "by order of the Queen", this exceedingly opulent design lends its muse to my original Le Libertine, Le Chic earrings, and are the embodiment of definition (5). Indeed, they were designed to defy convention with their unabashed drama, glamour and red carpet look-at-me attitude.

Expanding upon my signature woven flower (ooh, sounds so posh), I embellished these babies with 24K Gold Seed Beads upon feet after feet after feet after .. you get the idea .. of 14K Gold Filled Wire. The intent was to create a pop-up 3D effect with shots of colour coming in the form of transparent Pink Tourmaline Rondelles.

The heart of these gilded centers are amazing AAA Flawless Polished Green Fluorite Coins, just so so so PERFECT.

But wait, the magic does not end there. Absolutely decadent waterfalls of gem grade baubles drape Southwards from Brazilian Neon Apatite, and stop traffic with AAA Red Rubies, more Pink Tourmalines (these are gem grade, my friends), luscious Polished Prehnite and, sound the trumpets, stunning AA Flawless Polished Whiskey Quartz Briolettes.

Can you feel those envious looks burning into your back yet?

Approximately 79ft of 14K Gold Filled Wire was invested into the making of De Par La Reine. I counted. Chains and Ear Posts are also 14K Gold Filled. She measures a fabulous 2 7/8" drop.

"Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is a fantasy comedy based upon Gary Wolf's novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit. Released by Walt Disney Pictures in 1988, the film combines use of traditional animation and live action with elements of film noir. This critically acclaimed flick is set in 1947 Hollywood, where cartoon characters (referred to as "Toons") commonly interact with the studio system of Classical Hollywood cinema. It tells the tale of PI Eddie Valiant caught in a mystery that involves Roger Rabbit, an A-list Toon who is framed for murder.

And the va va vroom character here?

I certainly haven't been designing cuffs as long as some players in the market, and by that, I mean those who created these darlings way back since the '70s - such pioneers (there's a post somewhere here with images of cuffs I'd seen worn by a very famous singer in the early '80s). In fact, cuffs go waaaay back before then. Need to dig up some pictures.

BUT I do try my very best to imbue the essence of the *Eclettica* brand into these tactile pieces.

A VISIT TO GREY GARDENS by ECLETTICA

In as much as the name implies that these earrings were inspired by the everyday lives of the two Edith Beales (a reclusive socialite mother and daughter of the same name), who lived at Grey Gardens - that is not the case. Indeed, that's a tale best saved for another time.

These scenestealers were, in reality, implicitly influenced by a fabulous ensemble conjured by Galliano The Great, from his Fall 2009 Collection (see last image of this post).

Our danglers are likewise reminiscent of Russian-Balkan folklore, with perfectly coiled loops and circles that instantly called to mind the intricate embroidery so synonymous with their costumes. A magical illusion of snow is present too in the use of Virgin White Seed Pearls.

Let us not forget the palette here.

A delicate romance manifests itself as Black Rutilated Quartz Briolettes take centrestage. The current force du jour of gems (although I firmly believe they're classic staples every stylemeister should have), these are exquisite and of PREMIUM GRADE.

Adding to their dark intrigue and allure are quite possibly the best quality DARK LONDON BLUE TOPAZ Briolettes I've been blessed to work with. God, these are fairly orgasmic, seriously. Swaying rhythmically alongside these are RARE Grey Moonstones, Polished African Tanzanites and Inky Blue Iolites. Bedecking their tops are Rondelles of Rainbow Moonstone and Brazilian Blue Apatite as well as wee Grey Pearls.

Recalling the pannier-hipped, full-skirted coats so favoured by Mr Galliano, I've adorned the curvaceous sides of my chandeliers with plump RARE Mystic Silver Quartz Briolettes - each of which has been crowned not just with snowflecks, sorry, Seed Pearls, but also with a GENUINE BLACK DIAMOND RONDELLE.

Theatrical escapism at its best.

Implicitly inspired by one of my fave songs from the songstress dubbed as, "The Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll" by Rolling Stone Magazine in the 1980s, Stevie Nicks.

THUMBELINA by ECLETTICA

We're all familiar with Thumbelina (or, as they say in Danish, Tommelise), a Hans Christian Andersen classic but my earrings were inspired by a 1994 American animated film directed by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman.
